My favorite character in the Grace Harlowe books is J Elfrida Briggs. Unfortunately, she doesn't appear in this one. On the other hand, Grace is not nearly so irritating, and the plot is quite a lot more credible, in this book than in the later volumes that do include J. Elfrida. You can't win 'em all.
It's a fairly routine high school story, with Big Football Game, Freshmen Infiltrating Sophomores-only Dance, Competition (with skullduggery) for the Big Prize, and Nasty Algebra Teacher. But, to be truthful, I can't offhand think of another such tale that includes getting chased by wolves in the winter woods; where is this high school?
It's okay. But not wonderful.
